My Bloggy Mission (or ‘Why I am Here’)

Being quite candid: my annual hippy moment

Blogging is fun. I enjoy it. Being a cranky-arsed advocate with an attitude and complimentary ego to keep me company, I find the virtual public space one in which I can exorcise my passions without catching an STI. The exhibitionist in me craves an audience much to the disgust of my inner shyness, thus my personal journalling is done here where you, too, have the opportunity to peer into that momentary me.

I think I will write about many things… My interests are eclectic. I imagine moths do not ponder their attraction to the flame too often; nor do I.

My aim is to connect with human beings. I hope that people will call in once in a while to broaden their view, seek inspiration or smile (ironic ones are good, too). My mission, if I had to sum it up, would be to give my wonderfully diverse audience something to think about to the point of acting upon it in a way that reflects mindfulness and a sense of participation in our mutual responsibility. I do not ever promise a comfortable journey but it will be an interesting one.

So my wish for this blog and today? If everyone could spend a day in purposeful compassionate thought and action think how much better your world would be for that 24 hours. Try it. I guarantee its efficacy! Do you want to know more about the advantages of compassion? Read some interesting stuff from Berkeley here. Looking for a date? Compassion Day – 6 July 2014 – is your perfect opportunity.

kindest regards

“You are the people who are shaping a better world. One of the secrets of inner peace is the practice of compassion.” ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama
